3 Ways a Home Remodel in Carefree Enhances Your Mood

home remodel in carefree It’s very common for people to crave creativity. Whether it’s through painting, working on cars or around the house projects, staying active and busy typically makes people generally happy. However, there is a misconception that planning a home remodel in Carefree can be stressful, frustrating and simple put – a pain in the rear. Typically these types of emotions are the result of improper planning, emergency repairs and working with contractors that simply don’t know what they are doing.

There are many ways that you can avoid the home remodeling blues. Here are three of the best ways that taking on a home remodeling project will create positive feelings, reduce stress and provide a sense of accomplishment.

Increase Sun Exposure into the Home with Creative Windows

It might seem odd that one of the first things that we’d recommend is adding more sunlight to your home – especially in a place where 100 degree temps are the norm for half of the year. However, today’s modern windows are engineered to reduce the amount of heat transferred into a home. They also are not the simple cookie-cutter windows that are typically found in every home.

Working with professional home remodel contractors in Carefree will help you determine the right style, shape, and location to add new windows; as to reduce the potential of increasing heat inside your home. When you add natural sunlight to any home, the entire house will appear fresh, clean and simply increase positive vibes all around – especially when the energy bill stays low.

Choosing the Right Paint Color

One of the most stressful items on the checklist when taking on a home renovation project is choosing paint. Deciding on colors, tones, brands and textures of wall treatments is complex, requires a lot of planning and finding colors that will suit you.

Experienced home remodeling experts have a unique ability to be jack’s or jane’s of all trades. They can help you select the right colors, shades and types of paints that will enhance the look, feel and comfort of any room. They will also discuss with you the benefits of painting your home to add natural light – opening up the room space, making things appear brighter and airy.

Integrating an Open Floor Plan

It doesn’t matter if you’re afraid of closed spaces or not – it’s natural to feel more comfortable in an open environment. This is a major reason why homeowners integrate the open floor plan concept to their home remodeling projects. An open floor plan on the main floor and even in upstairs lofts or basements can provide easy navigation for traffic, give you tons of space to place furniture and give you more options for design and décor. One of the unique benefits of this type of floor plan is that the open concept stimulates conversation in people – as again; it’s common to be relaxed when the walls are not closing in on you.

Although these physical additions and upgrades to your home can help improve your overall mood during the home remodeling process; the key factor is to work with a home builder that is friendly, professional and efficient. They’ll ensure all permits, planning and details are taken care of – so you don’t have to stress or worry about the details.

How to Prevent the Need for Fire Damage Repair at Christmas

fire damage repairThe Christmas season is typically a time of reflection, celebration and expression of love with friends and family. The one thing that can ruin that holiday joy is a fire that ravages a home due to unforeseen events. There is nothing worse than having to deal with tragedy during the holiday season. However, there are a few things you can do to prevent the need to contact a home restoration expert to complete fire damage repair that occurs during the Christmas holiday.

Here are a few tips to consider.

First – Don’t Overload Outlets

We all love to decorate our homes during the holidays. However, did you know that according to the US Department of Energy, the number one cause of fire damage during the holiday season is electrical fires that are caused by overloaded circuit and outlets? Some of the leading causes of this situation can include:

It’s quite ok to take pride in decorating inside your home – just be careful about how many lights you plug into each electrical outlet. If you have questions about how much power that your home’s electrical outlets can handle, contact a local electrician.

Second – Place Candles Away from Flammable Material

Many fire damage restoration specialists in Scottsdale also agree that another way to reduce the potential of fire damage occurring inside your home during the holidays is to remove candles from any flammable materials. It’s very common for homeowners to use decorative table coverings on table tops – then place decorative candles on top. However, many fires that can lead to smoke damage inside a home are triggered by candles that drip hot wax or candle residue onto these flammable coverings. Other causes of indoor fires can be caused by candles that are near other combustible materials such as:

  • Oils or Scented potpourri

  • Decorative tissue paper

  • Wooden toys or decorative items

Third – Extinguish Fireplace Coals Completely

Contrary to popular opinion, Santa Claus does care about the fire in your chimney. Hot coals inside a fireplace can continue to produce heat in excess of 200 degrees – hours after they appear to be burnt out. This is often a leading cause of forest fires, but can also trigger fires that lead to water damage and expensive home repairs as the embers can ignite items located near the fireplace such as:

The holiday season is supposed to be relaxing and enjoyable for families and individuals. By being aware of some of the common causes of indoor fire damage in Scottsdale, you can take proactive steps to protect your home against fire – saving you money, stress and frustration.

Ultimate Guide for Custom Home Building in Cave Creek

custom home building in cave creekWhen you hear the phase ‘build your own custom home’ – do your eyes get big? If you’re like most hard working people, the dream of a custom home is one that most aspire to achieve. Picking a the right location, the right floor plan, add-on’s, luxury items and more can cause a lot of stress in what’s supposed to be an enjoyable experience. However, there are a few things that you can do to simplify the process of custom home building in Cave Creek that will ensure the project goes off smooth – without a hitch.

First – Choosing a Professional Home Builder

Building a house is 100% about planning and efficiency. This is why most home building experts in Arizona agree that the first step should be hiring the right professional custom home building contractor to help you plan the build. Custom home building comes with several steps that can cause confusion, frustration and lead to costly errors if not handled by the right people. Some of these steps include:

  • Planning a custom home’s location to fit daily living needs like electrical and water

  • Making sure the property is properly zoned for the floor plan a home owner wishes to build

  • Pulling all appropriate permits, scheduling design meetings, blue print review, interior décor options and more

A custom home construction company in cave creek will have this needed experience – along with the right processes and procedures to ensure the job is done right the first time.

Second – Choosing a Location

Ask any real estate expert and they’ll still tell you that having the right location is a critical to the development of any building. However, choosing the perfect location for a custom home has more to do with function, logistics, and livability. There are several things to consider when you’re thinking about building a custom home including:

  • Property zoning: Many lots that are available for residential development are zoned and approved for certain elevations, size of the structure and the physical location of the building as well. A professional custom home builder has access to this information and will give you a detailed list of items that need to be verified before choosing the right lot.

  • Directional setting: When you are looking for a piece of property to build your custom home, the size of the lot is not always the biggest priority. The placement of the home on any lot is also a critical factor to determine that can impact your comfort, the location of driveways and utility placement.

The best custom home builders will work with you to choose the right lot based on your wants, budget and needs. They will also be happy to discuss all of the steps involved in choosing a lot before you sign a contract with them.

Third – Planning Development

The development stage of building a custom home is typically the fun part for homeowners and builders. This will involve setting up a floor plan, adding custom features, plumbing, electrical, landscaping and other elements that make up a custom home. However, before the build actually commences, a professional custom home builder in Cave Creek will need to set up the blueprints, schedule all phases of construction, order supplies, pull permits and schedule all contractors to complete the construction phase.

Once the construction phase has been completed the custom home builder in Cave Creek will have an opportunity to showcase their professionalism. The best contractors take time to review every detail about your project, walk you through what was completed, show you how things work and make any corrections you need done – before they mark the job complete.

3 Tips for Creating Paradise Valley Modern House Plans

paradise valley modern house plansBuilding a custom home comes with many decisions for any homeowner to make. One of the first items on the punch list is creating a floor plan that fulfills your needs, wants and complies with any local ordinances depending on where you decide to build the property. A growing trend with Paradise Valley modern house plans is to incorporate décor and floor plans that are also built on entertaining and lifestyle – without compromising comfort and energy efficiency.

In order to help you determine how to create a floor plan that will help you build a house that is stylish, energy efficient and becomes the talk of your friends and family for all the right reasons.

Tip #1 – Decide Between Single Story or Two Story Floor Plan

The great think about working with a custom home construction company in Paradise Valley is the freedom to create that perfect home from scratch. However, before you start designing rooms, crown molding and choosing paint colors – you’ve first got to determine elevation. The decision for building a single or two-story custom home often is determined by a few important factors:

  • How many rooms do you want to have inside your custom home?

  • How long do you plan on living inside the home?

  • Are there any physical restrictions or handicaps that people have that would restrict the ability to handle stairs on a frequent basis?

Once you have a good answer to these questions, you can begin to work with the custom home builder to create a floor plan based on your needs and whether it’s a single or multiple-level home.

Tip #2 – Create the Floor Plan Around Your Lifestyle

It’s common for people that have taken time to create a beautiful custom home in Paradise Valley to have a desire to show it off to their friends and family. With this being said, it’s important to design your floor plan off your lifestyle as well. Home entertaining can and often will impact the overall look and feel of a home; but it can also impact your floor plan layout. Here are a few things to consider:

  • Do you like to host parties with multiple people attending? If so, integrating an open concept layout in public rooms like living rooms, kitchens and other gather places is a good idea.

  • Will you be home all year long – or do you live in the Phoenix Valley during certain times of year only?

  • Will there be young children around the home. Some floor plans can be customized to ensure safety for all those that are inside your home.

Tip #3 – Consider How Much Outdoor Living Space You Want

One item that many people tend to forget about when creating a floor plan for a custom home is the outdoor living space. Backyards and front yards are commonly a popular gathering place for people – especially in the cool fall and winter months – or outdoors at night during the spring and summer seasons. Think about the items you want to have on your property outside of the main home. Some of the things to consider include:

  • Are you going to add a swimming pool, patio or deck?

  • Do you wish to add a casita  or mother-in-law apartment?

  • Do you have a RV or some ‘toys’ that you’d like to store inside a ‘toy barn’?

Each of these individual elements must be answered before you begin to design or create any custom home. The best custom home builders in Paradise Valley always have time to work with you on answering these questions with facts on how they’ll impact your look, feel, budget and other considerations.

How Kitchen Remodeling in Carefree Increases Market Value

kitchen remodeling in carefreeThe kitchen inside any house is often the room that gets the most use. It’s for this reason and many more that home owners that are planning kitchen remodeling in Carefree often consider the multiple benefits for taking this type of project under their wings. Fortunately, the best custom home builders in Arizona have years of experience upgrading and remodeling kitchens to maximize function, style and most importantly – increase the overall market value of your home.

Here are a few reasons why working with a kitchen remodeling company in Carefree can help you increase the equity of your home.

First – A Custom Kitchen Remodeling Company Will Help You in Choosing a Kitchen Remodel Design that Appeals To the Times

Regardless of what part of town you might live, the reality is that if you’re not incorporating current trends in your kitchen remodeling project – you’re most likely going to lose in some capacity. It’s hard for home owners to stay on top of trends, décor enhancements, new modern appliances and fixtures that spice up the look, style and feel of their kitchens. However, when you work with a company that specializes in kitchen remodeling design; you can sit back and relax knowing that the experts will incorporate the latest and greatest into your remodeling project.

Professional home remodeling contractors work with professional designers, product manufacturers and representatives – giving them access to what’s coming down the pipeline in regards to major appliances, kitchen fixtures and design features. By staying ahead of the curve and adding these features to your kitchen remodeling project; your kitchen will be a featured room – not just a place to cook.

Second – Kitchen Renovations can Make the Home Seem Bigger

Anytime you make corrections or renovations to any room, one of the most noticeable additions in the appearance of space. Kitchen remodeling projects typically include features like new cabinetry, kitchen island renovation and upgrades to appliances and light fixtures. As a result, the changes that you’ll make will often increase the visual space of the kitchen. There are several reasons for this:

  • First, new appliances are designed with space savings in mind. Gone are the big, bulky refrigerators, ovens, dish washers and other appliances that are typically found in a modern kitchen. Instead, these new appliances are built for form, energy efficiency and style.

  • Second, modern cabinetry is slim and trim. When you have cabinets that appear to be form fitting and don’t stand out among the other kitchen fixtures; it helps to add visual space to the room.

  • Third, modern countertops are designed for efficiency. Whether you’re working with granite, marble or even stainless steel, the countertops and islands that are a part of most modern kitchen upgrades are designed to give you plenty of space for preparation – without adding floor space.

If you have a room that physically looks bigger – the appraisers and future buyers will notice this instantly; which quickly become a major selling point and can create competition in a competitive housing market.

Third – Adding Modern Appliances Increases Energy Efficiency

A major buying point for homeowners in Carefree is energy efficiency. Since utility bills are typically skyrocketing during the hot summer months, homeowners need to be very cautious about saving energy anyway they can. By upgrading your older appliances in the kitchen to new, Energy Star®  rated appliances; the home’s value instantly improves. However, the cost of operating this home quickly drops – which in the end is a major reason why kitchen remodeling increases home value across the board.

Regardless of what type or style of kitchen you have – remodeling and renovation has never been easier; especially when you work with a custom kitchen remodeling company in Carefree. Take time to speak with your local custom home builder about ideas they have to increase your home’s value. You’ll be glad you did.

Phoenix Remodeling Contractor Unveils Home To Wounded Warrior

wounded-warriors-home-remodel-in-phoenixTaking time to give back to our fallen hero’s is a common theme across the United States these days. However, sometimes a situation occurs that truly hits home. Such was the case when Peak One Builders & Restoration founder Mike Christensen was informed that US Army Sergeant John Ricketts; a local Phoenix-based Afghanistan veteran who sustained significant injuries during deployment was in need of improvements to a home that would permit him to safely navigate home living. Having previously completed three such projects for Phoenix area Wounded Warriors, Peak One Builders & Restoration, a top Phoenix remodeling contractor was ready once again to help out.

Teaming again with Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors project to make extensive improvements to a home purchased in the Desert Ridge community, the Peak One Team – along with input from Sergeant Ricketts began to formulate a plan that would transform his new single-family home into a fully compliant ADA house. Sergeant Ricketts story is very similar to one that Peak One Builders took on in 2014 – a home renovation project for Army Ranger Sergeant First Class Cory Remsburg; who received the keys to his new home with President Barack Obama in attendance earlier this year.

Sergeant Ricketts, a gunner for the legendary US Army 101st Airborne Division, sustained life-threatening injuries in May 2010 after his vehicle struck an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) while patrolling a mountain-side in Afghanistan. Although his injuries impacted many physical parts of his body, his resolve, courage and strength has been an inspiration to many. In fact, the Retired US Army Sergeant plans on competing in an off-road marathon.

About the Home Remodel and the Project

The house was purchased by the JAH4WW team in July 2014 and began to work with the Peak One Builders team to formulate a plan that would ensure that the home would be ADA compliant. In order to accomplish this, several wholesale changes needed to occur such as:

  • All of the doorways inside the home had to be widened to 36” in order to make all rooms wheelchair accessible.

  • The Master Bedroom was reconfigured to accommodate a large, roll-in shower with a customized bench seat for an easy transfer from a chair.

  • Special ramps were formed in all of the walkways and the garage to permit smooth entry into the home.

  • The laundry room was reconfigured and enlarged to permit full access to washer and dryer without hitting any walls.

  • New porcelain tile was installed through the entire home along with recessed lighting with energy efficient LED bulbs, custom light fixtures, ceiling fans, granite counters, and custom kitchen cabinets.

An interesting feature also added by the Peak One Builders team was the installation of customized major appliances that were installed at lower heights than normal for easy use while in a wheelchair. New walkways and pads were poured to allow access to every portion of the backyard; which was also completely upgraded with a new fire pit, barbecue, herb garden and widened the access from both sides of the home. A pergola was installed above the fire pit to provide some shade. Additionally, custom garage cabinets, epoxy flooring and a new workbench were installed in the garage. The home’s HVAC system was also upgraded, as was the air handler and a tankless hot water heater.

Every portion of this home was designed with Sergeant Ricketts needs but his taste and style in mind, with help of an amazing interior designer. Oil rubbed bronze fixtures are used throughout the home which was complimented by a new ledger stone accent wall fit for a king.
john ricketss phoenix home remodelingAs the construction phase comes to a close, finishing touches are being made to ensure that once Sergeant Ricketts receives the keys to his new home, safety, comfort and his quality of life will be vastly improved. It’s truly humbling to see the efforts of a team of volunteers, passionate people, vendors, suppliers and others in the Phoenix metro community dedicated to a common cause. Our nation’s hero’s give the ultimate sacrifice to protect our liberty and freedom which makes these improvements to Sergeant Ricketts home feel like it’s the least we could do. The entire team at Peak One Builders & Restoration, a proud home remodeling contractor in Phoenix AZ is honored to once again team up with Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors project.

3 Benefits of Pet Friendly Home Remodeling in Scottsdale

pet friendly home remodeling in scottsdaleOur furry friends are family members in most Scottsdale homes. With this being a statement of fact for many folks living in the Phoenix Valley, it would seem logical that we’d find ways of incorporating their needs into the home remodeling projects we undertake – right? Fortunately, professional contractors are starting to see how important is it to consider pet friendly home remodeling in Scottsdale in all of their home improvement projects.

Here are three reasons why you might want to consider speaking with a professional remodeling contractor about integrating a few pet friendly upgrades at home.

First – Pet Grooming or Bathing Areas Make Life Easier on the Homeowner

How often does it happen when your dog or cat is ultra-excited about heading into the bathtub? Most of the time, pets really dislike the bath or grooming entirely. However, one of the growing trends in many home remodeling projects is adding a pet grooming and bathing area either inside the home or in the back yard. This can help homeowners in many ways including:

  • Keeping all pet grooming supplies in a designated area; making them easy to find and use when you need them.

  • Giving your pet their own bathtub – keeping your human tubs cleaner

  • Allows you to bathe and dry your pets in an area away from furniture that can get wet thanks to the wet puppy or kitty trying to dry off.

Second – Adding Pet Indoor / Outdoor Access Doors Make Life Easy – Especially at 3 am

If you’re like most pet owners, you understand how frustrating it can be to wake up in the early AM hours to take your pet outside to go to take care of nature. This is why several homeowners have contacted local home remodeling contractors in Scottsdale about installing indoor / outdoor access doors for pets. Not all pets are equally sized – and a reality of life is that several ‘store bought’ pet doors are either too small or too big for some of our pets. Plus, installing these items inside our existing doors or walls can be challenging for many homeowners.

A great solution to this common problem is to have these doors added while you’re having the home remodeled anyways. Not only will this allow pets to head outdoors when they need to – but if they want to access the pet play area outside, they have the freedom of doing so without needing your help.

Third – Reduce Wear & Tear with Pet-Proof Flooring

According to many home remodeling experts, a leading cause of having to replace carpet or flooring is due to the punishment that our pets place on flooring. Whether it’s their claws or their tendency of having nature call at the most inappropriate time, most homeowners understand that pets and indoor flooring don’t typically get along. However, there are new pet-proof flooring products that are designed to withstand the abuse and other accidents that pets typically cause when they live indoors. Professional pet friendly home remodeling contractors in Scottsdale can give you all the information you’ve ever wanted to know about these new products; including styles, colors and installation costs – so you can add it to your home remodeling project.
