Paradise Valley Swimming Pool Remodel: Pool Surface Comparison

paradise valley swimming pool remoOne of the realities of swimming pools is that over time, some parts of the pool will wear out and need to be replaced. The most common cause of swimming pool renovation is when the surface begins to chip. Whether you have an older plaster pool or concrete, many of today’s Paradise Valley swimming pool remodel jobs will begin with the homeowner determining what type of surface is best suited for their individual application.

Here are a few different types of swimming pool surfaces that are typically used in the Phoenix valley, along with the pros and cons of each type. This will help you make an informed decision about your PV swimming pool remodel.

Plaster Finishes

One of the most traditional finishes is plaster. It’s really simple to figure out as it’s a mixture of Portland cement, silica sand or marble dust and water. This type of pool finish gives the swimming pool a very smooth and classic appearance. It typically lasts 5 to 7 years before it begins to show signs of aging, such as chipping. This can be accelerated in hot weather climates like Phoenix.

PROS include:

  • Low cost

  • Maintain a classic look

CONS include:

  • Wears out rather quickly

  • Can cost more money over extended periods of time

  • Can wear out sooner in extreme climates

Aggregate Pool Finishes

The newest generation of pool finishes is called aggregate, which is a hybrid of the older plaster pool surface. This type of finish comes in two main forms; exposed or polished and is plaster mixed with small pieces of river stones, glass beads, quartz or granite. It typically lasts longer than traditional plaster and is more resistant to pool chemicals like chlorine and acids. Another benefit of aggregate is that they are available in multiple color blends.

PROS include:

  • Can last 12 to 20 years

  • Improves the overall look of the swimming pool

  • Holds up longer in hot weather climates

CONS include:

  • A bit more expensive than traditional plaster

  • Can have a rough finish

Glass Bead & Tile Pool Finish

People looking for a really elegant looking swimming pool might want to consider the glass bead or tile finish. These minute glass beads and tiles will collect the sparkle of sunlight and create a three-dimensional effect. Tile is one of the most durable pool finishes available – and the choice of many homeowners that are looking to at the longest lasting solution.

Tile pool finishes come in several types of materials including ceramic, porcelain, glass or stone tile.

PROS include:

  • They last a very long time

  • Hold up against extreme weather elements

  • Add a luxurious finish to any swimming pool

CONS include:

  • Tend to be more expensive

  • Needs to be installed by a professional swimming pool contractor

Regardless of what type of material you choose, using a pool remodeling contractor in Paradise Valley will help guide you to make a decision based on which option is best suited for your short and long term goals. Often times, making the decision to spend a little more money initially can add significant value to your home in the long run.

The Ultimate Carefree AZ Home Remodeling Checklist

carefree az home remodelingStaying focused on any project becomes much easier when you create a checklist. Especially if you’re taking on a major project – planning is your best friend and often the key to success. IF you’re getting ready to remodel a home, know that effective planning begins with the home owner. This is why we’ve created the ultimate Carefree AZ home remodeling checklist that will ensure your project starts and ends with as little stress as possible.

Item #1 – Document your Ideas before Creating a List

Before you embark on your home remodeling checklist adventure, you first have to know what you intend to create. This is why the first item that most successful home remodeling projects begin with is writing down all of the ideas you have on paper – first. Here are a few suggestions:

  • Write down all the rooms or areas of your property that you’d like to remodel

  • Research what other home owners have done for those specific rooms

  • Pick three to five items that you’d like to add to your remodeling project for each room

There are several other items you can research, but this is the best way to begin the process initially.

Item #2 – Establish a Budget for your Carefree Home Remodeling Project

After you’ve written down all of your ideas (including all of your wants and needs), the next step is to create a budget. The trick about this step is that sometimes home owners will look at what they can afford vs. the return on investment that they’ll receive after making the improvements. The reality is that any home improvement project should be an investment in your future equity. But it’s also a cold hard fact that home owners have to establish a clear understanding of what they can afford to spend each month – or in a lump sum for making these improvements. Here are a few specific items to consider when establishing your budget:

  • Determine whether you’re going to finance or pay for the home remodeling project with savings.

  • If you’re going to finance the remodeling project, check with lenders to ensure you can qualify for a loan; and that that monthly loan payment fits within your budget.

Item #3 – Find a Contractor You Can Trust

Once you’ve narrowed down the items on the want list and determined how much you can afford to spend, it’s now time to find a contractor that you can trust. The tricky question is – how to define ‘trust’. Here are a few attributes that the best home remodeling contractors and Carefree all have in common.

  • They have extensive experience working on home remodeling projects similar to yours. Contrary to popular belief, not all home improvement projects are alike. So, when you are looking for a contractor to complete this critical project; make sure they can give you practical examples of projects similar to yours.

  • Professional contractors will work with you during the entire process. From the initial discovery meeting, to planning, pulling permits, construction and fine-tuning, the best contractor that you can trust will have a detailed plan on how they intend to work with you during all phases.

  • They’ll help you choose finishes, materials and narrow down that list. When you meet with a professional contractor, they’ll review that first list you created and your budget to come up with a plan that is both affordable and stylish.

Item #4 – Make Sure You are Prepared to live in a Construction Zone

There are many home improvements or remodeling projects that can be easily completed – and some that take a lot of time to complete. The reality of any remodeling project is that you’ll have to be prepared to live in some sort of construction zone. Make sure you meet with your contractor to ascertain any hurdles that might exist during the construction phase – before you agree on the project.

Taking on a home remodeling project in Carefree becomes much easier when you have a solid baseline to begin. Take these checklist items as an initial starting point, and work with your professional home remodeling contractor in Carefree to fine tune the process; so that the end result is exactly what you can afford and what you’re looking to achieve.

Popular High-End Paradise Valley Home Remodeling Ideas

paradise valley home remodeling ideasIf you’re going to invest the time and money to update your home – why not add a touch of style and class? This is not only a growing trend for many Paradise Valley home owners, but it’s also a great way to increase the equity and value of your home and improve your quality of living. In fact, many of the high end Paradise Valley home remodeling ideas are rather affordable – but will look as if you’ve spent a king’s ransom transforming your home to a castle.

Check out four of the most common high end remodeling projects gaining momentum in the greater Phoenix area.

Wine Cellar Construction

Fine wine is best kept and displayed in a professionally built wine cellar. Since many home owners in Paradise Valley have a passion for wine and also have the space in their homes to make this type of improvement, the addition of wine cellars is quickly becoming exceedingly popular. Wine cellar construction is a precise process and involves proper planning, choosing the appropriate location, securing the right materials

Many Paradise Valley home owners choose to add this upgraded feature to their homes, not only to showcase their personal wine collections, but to also use as a comfortable and cool place to mingle with friends and house guests. There are many applications for a professionally built wine cellar – the key is to work with a renovation company that has experience building multiple types of wine cellars.

Home Theater Construction

Enhancing entertainment options another home remodeling project that several Paradise Valley residents are investing in these days. Contrary to popular belief, the home theater does not have to be a huge entertainment facility filled with fresh popcorn machines, soda fountains or billiard tables. In fact – it can and often will be customized to the precise goals and desires of each home owner. This is why working with a professional home remodeling company in Paradise Valley that integrates this flexibility into their home theater remodeling projects is the best way to get exactly what you want.

Guest House Construction

Sometimes simply remodeling what is currently built inside your home is just not what you need. This is when the idea of adding a guest home, detached casita or a mother-in-law apartment is just the thing that will increase comfort and living space for your homestead. Guest house construction is a complex process, however when it’s handled correctly, planned with proper permits, blueprints, materials and a realistic timeline – it will yield amazing results. The great thing about a guest house is that you can either match the exterior of your existing home, or go completely unique – what ever your heart desires.

Custom Ceilings in Paradise Valley

It’s natural for the eyes of people to gravitate upward. It’s due to this biological fact that one of the quickest growing home remodeling ideas in Paradise Valley is upgrading ceilings in homes. There are several ways you can upgrade the look and feel of your home by simply focusing on the ceiling such as:

  • Adding wood features to your ceilings

  • Customized molding

  • Upgraded lighting packages and ceiling fan fixtures

  • Adding ceiling styling like coffered, tray, vaulted, cathedral or cove

The bottom line is that the sky is the limit when it comes to exploring creative ways to add luxury home remodeling concepts for any home in Paradise Valley. The best way to begin this process is to set up a consultation or discovery meeting with a professional home remodeling contractor in Paradise Valley. Take time to explore your vision and work with the right company from the outset to ensure you create your home improvement vision.

My name is Mike Christensen. I'm the owner of Peak One Builders and its a great day out here today to be able to give to Cory what he truly deserves after fighting for this country and being a part of Jared's organization and being able to give back, being able to serve as a soldier myself and then turn around and be able to serve and give back to him on the other side.

It means an unbelievable amount for me to be a part of something so special. To be able to change somebody's life and really give them a home, not just a house, but a home.

That's why we're not "houses"for wounded vets, we not giving away houses. We are truly giving away homes.

We make homes handicap accessible and functionable for  the specific needs of our individual recipients and being able to do Cory's home has been nothing short than awesome and I can't stand up here and take credit. I'm just the face for many people who selflessly gave their time, money and energy to make this possible.

Gilbert Arizona is ranked number 2 in the country for veterans to reside and this house and this neighborhood is the reason why a lot of veterans make this town their home.

We appreciate what Gilbert's done for us and just again so glad to be part of it, I'm glad Gilbert was a part of it and glad we were able to just make Gilbert one more step a better place to live for veterans.

JFK once said in his Memorial Day speech that"A nation reveals itself not only by the men it produces, but also by the men that it honors, but most importantly by the men it remembers."

Today belongs to Cory Remsburg and remembering the times he spent defending this great nation.

Recognizing that Cory volunteered as an Elite Ranger, he has truly demonstrated a great amount of courage and strength beyond what any of us can possibly imagine and that continues to this day while he goes through all of his rehabilitation to get him where he is today.

Our debt to heroes such as Cory Remsburg can never be paid back, but our gratitude and respect can last forever.

This build was a great build. It was unlike any of the other ones that we've done for Jared.

We actually did an addition for a caretaker's quarters and then this great backyard with a pool and a spa and the fire pit and the tiki bar. Just an unbelievable backyard that I know he's going to enjoy for years to come.

We had some really, really nice personal touches on the inside of the house with the barn door and also the amazing fireplace  that really just kind created a focal point for the house.

Just had an unbelievable amount of contributors, suppliers, volunteers, donations... just an unbelievable team that helped put this house together and again just so proud and so honored to be a part of it.

General Contractor In Scottsdale Building Handicap Home For Wounded Veteran

General Contractor In ScottsdaleCelebrating this nations birthday reminds us of the freedoms we have in this country, but this freedom does not come without sacrifice. The men and women that serve in our armed forces protect this nation and it’s freedoms. Although it may be easy to reach out to thank our military on holidays like July 4th, Veterans Day or Memorial Day, it’s important that we take every opportunity to give thanks and show gratitude to our military. So when the opportunity came up for Peak One Builders owner Mike Christensen to collaborate once again with Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warrior project to renovate a home for another US Army veteran, this general contractor in Scottsdale jumped in.

US Army Sergeant John Ricketts Home Remodeling Project Is Underway

This time, the recipient of a new remodeling project is US Army Sergeant John Ricketts; a veteran of the war in Afghanistan, who similar to JAH4WW project recipient Sergeant Cory Remsburg, suffered life threatening injuries at the hands of enemy insurgents. Sergeant John Ricketts was injured in May of 2010, while serving as a gunner for the 101st Airborne Division in Afghanistan. His vehicle struck an improvised explosive device (IED) during a routine convoy patrol of a mountainside.

Like many other victims of this type of terrorist act, Sergeant Ricketts suffered severe injuries that impacted multiple aspects body. When US armed forces veterans are faced with challenging injuries, their training, resolve and fortitude tends to shine. While this type of challenge can create difficult feelings and loss of hope, Sergeant Ricketts found a way to encapsulate these emotions and apply them into positive goals for the future.Sergeant Ricketts now has prosthetics and his dream is to compete in an off-road marathon involving a run through the desert, a mountain-bike race, and a competitive swim.

Fourth Home Remodeling Project for Peak One Builders & Jared Allen’s Homes For Wounded Warriors

In July of 2014, Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors closed on a home for Ricketts in Phoenix, Arizona. Planning commenced quickly with Peak One Builders & Restoration to plan the entire home remodeling project that would create a space that would function in a way to support Sergeant Ricketts specific needs. Most importantly, Sergeant Ricketts is 100% involved with the remodeling process ensuring he is getting the home he desires.

As this veteran owned Scottsdale general home contractor, Peak One Builders takes on their fourth home remodeling project with Jared Allen’s foundation, they couldn’t be more proud to be a part of the team. You can follow along with the build with updates posted on the Peak One Builders Facebook page to see how an average home is turned into a comfortable palace for a true American patriot.

Buy Land And Build Custom Home In Scottsdale Arizona

Buy Land and Build Custom Home in Scottsdale Arizona at http://peakonebuilders.com/buy-land-and-build-custom-home/. Peak One Builders is a Veteran-Owned General Contracting Company Serving Scottsdale & Phoenix, Arizona. Call (480) 481-5150 today for a free consultation.

Hi I’m Mike Christensen the owner of Peak One Builders and I’m here to talk to you about a vacant piece of land that we have that we’re looking to build a custom home for you on. This piece of property that we’re offering here today is a 1.67 acre piece of land out in the Rio Verde area. This piece of land has opportunity to have a house that faces to the south or to the west. It does have water and power brought to it and we’re ready to build the house of your dreams. We do have floor plans available, we’ve designed one specifically for this property but we also have a multitude of other floor plans that you can pick from, as well as designing from a floor plan that maybe you like portions of it and you’d want us to design a little bit more of it to fit this specific lot to get the views of Four Peaks, Granite Mountain, and just the beautiful desert sky.

This property, the general area that it’s in, and the surrounding North Scottsdale area, offers a lot of amenities. Right now we’re standing in an area where horseback riding is prevalent. There’s quads, motorcycle riding, there’s mountain biking around adjacent mountains and there’s a river not too far down the road from here. There’s starry nights and we’re minutes away from championship golf courses in Troon and the Rio Verde area.

This piece of property is owned by Peak One Builders and we are willing to work with you through the entire build process by subordinating the lot to you during the construction process where we can work that in with your loan and so you’re not paying all those upfront costs. As well as being an open and honest builder with you telling you what we feel should be done and then taking all your interests in mind with building the property from start to finish.

If you’re interested in this lot, the next thing to do would be to bring you out to the lot, walk all 4 corners, understand all the views, understand the roads the traffic patterns and help you decide where the areas of privacy that you would like- where would you like to put the garage, just really understanding your overall needs and wants and coordinating that with you on the property itself to maintain good privacy, getting every view that you possibly can of Four Peaks or Granite Mountain.

If you’d like to take this lot or one of our other available lots we’d be willing to work with you through the conceptual phase, the design phase where we’re creating an actual floor plan and a full set of construction documents to get a permit. That time frame is typically around 60 days total to get you to the point where we’re submitting for a permit. The permit process can vary, usually about 6 to 8 weeks and then the build time for a normal 3500 square foot house is about 7 months depending on the level of your finish and the complexity of the design.

The benefits of going with Peak One Builders on this lot or one of our other available lots is that we’re going to be a one stop shop for you. Yes you can go out and buy a home right now that’s available for you, but we’re going to build a house that’s tailored to your needs, your wants and exactly how you want it. We are going to give you everything you want in the house of your dreams.

We’re excited about building a relationship with you that’s going to last a lifetime.

If you’re interested in building a custom home on this lot or on one of our other available lots please give us a call at (480) 481 5150 or visit our website at www.peakonebuilders.com.

Custom Home Remodeling Contractors in Scottsdale & Phoenix AZ

Custom Home Remodeling Contractors in Scottsdale Arizona by http://peakonebuilders.com/complete-home-remodels/ Peak One Builders – Veteran-Owned General Contracting Company Serving Scottsdale & Phoenix. Call (480) 481-5150 today for a free consultation.

My name is Mike Christensen, I’m the owner of Peak One Builders and today we’re going to talk about whole house remodels or extensive remodels to your home or a home that you have just purchased. We really specialize in coming into your house and remodeling your whole house at one time especially if you’ve bought it (sic) bought a house that really needs to be updated and you haven’t moved into the house yet, or if you’re living in the house now and you’ve decided to move out of the house and do an extensive remodel. And we really specialize in working with people who have second homes, people that aren’t going to (sic) be there at the house during the entire process. We have an excellent communication plan to help bring you from states away back to your project there at your house while we’re doing the entire remodel.

A lot of more of your more extensive whole house type remodel are obviously incorporating kitchen remodels, bathroom remodels, whether it’s 1 bathroom 2 bathrooms, and a lot of those designs, really the basic stuff that’s being changed out in addition to those things are flooring. You’re changing out the flooring in the entire house; you’re repainting the entire house. A lot of people are also transforming different rooms in their houses if they’re not using them all and turning them into a wine cellar. Another popular trend is taking a bedroom that they’re not using and turning it into a home theater room.

People like to incorporate different mediums such as brick and stone- very popular on walls whether it’s a fireplace, like the one behind us, an entertainment center. And it doesn’t always have to be on the face of it, a lot of people are doing insets where they’re doing brick in the back of the inset, or the back of the niche. Again more of a comprehensive remodel, people are remodeling their kitchen, they’re making them more of a gourmet eat-in type kitchen where you’re not necessarily having a formal dining room but you’re incorporating more of a nook, or a less formal of a dining room that’s really right off of the kitchen. Expanding kitchens, making them a little bit more open. A lot of times people are going with 2 islands, which is very popular nowadays. Different colors to the cabinets, not just a monochromatic feel to a kitchen nowadays, it’s very popular to go with a different color for your island, a different color of countertop, or type of countertop for your island, and then incorporating updated lighting.

As far as total time frame that you’re looking at to complete your whole house remodel or your extensive remodel, you’ve got to consider the design phase to that, whether that’s kitchen design, bathroom design, incorporating the overall flooring scheme into that design- you know that process usually takes about 30 days before we can actually get into the construction phase of it. And depending on what we’re doing may require a permit before we can actually get started on the work.

Typically when you come to us we’re going to start out in what’s considered a conceptual phase. We’re going to try and figure out what room’s you’re looking to remodel, what your overall budget is, if you’re looking to incorporate an interior designer- which we’ve got different designers that we work with and we definitely recommend it to really help with your overall design. That conceptual and design phase is about 30 days, maybe a little bit longer when picking different types of fixtures and things of that nature. The kitchen design will play a big portion of that and it may take a little bit longer to get that phase selected, but often times we’re able to start the project while still having some obvious selections that you may not have figured out at that time.

If these things that we’ve been talking about today seem to fit your needs, we’d love to give you a free consultation. You can contact us at 480 481 5150 or you can visit our website at www.peakonebuilders.com

Scottsdale Custom Home Builders | Luxury Builder in Phoenix AZ

Scottsdale Custom Home Builders by http://peakonebuilders.com/custom-home-building/ Peak One Builders – Veteran-Owned General Contracting Company Serving Scottsdale & Phoenix. Call (480) 481-5150 today for a free consultation.

My name is Mike Christensen I’m the owner of Peak One Builders and today we’re here to talk to you about new home construction in the Scottsdale and Phoenix area. Oftentimes people approach us already owning a lot and asking us to incorporate a new home into that existing lot that they have, but most times people haven’t picked a lot yet or are in the process of picking a lot and ask us come in during their inspection period really to evaluate the lot and try to figure out what the costs might be, which is very important and we always recommend that people bring us in before they buy the lot. The process really stars with me coming out and doing a site evaluation of your property, figuring out what the potential cost just in site prep which, oftentimes, people get caught up in a square foot price and forget about the cost to develop the site initially just to able to start building your home. If you’ve got a hillside lot obviously that plays in a much larger cost as far as retaining walls and things of that nature. Another big factor that plays into building a new home that really needs to be discovered in the initial phase when you are trying to find a lot is; where are the utilities, how far are they from your house and what are those costs that could potentially be associated with bringing utilities to your property. Those are all very important factors that need to be part of the decision making process and determining costs.

If you’re in search of a lot we do have lots that are available for you that may fit your needs, we also have a large resource base that can help you connect with the lot that you’re looking for, whether that’s in town, more of an urban environment, or out in the desert area which people are in love with as well. Once your lot has been selected and purchased, the next step in the overall process is really to go through a conceptual design phase for the home itself. Trying to figure out what your needs versus your wants are, how many rooms, what size square footage; and really that plays a big role in the initial design phase. A lot of times people get caught in (sic) caught up in trying to determine square footage, but really what they need really to determine is how many rooms, how many bedrooms, how many bathrooms and then really scale it from there, calculating that square footage. And it really starts with simple things such as making a list of all your needs versus your wants, and then drawing some simple square diagrams that really kind of start laying out the spaces, and then from there we take it into an actual design phase where we’re building your floor plan and getting your approval and working with you on that process.

A lot of times when people approach us initially about building a house we try to have them provide maybe some floor plans that they’ve looked at in the past, but maybe don’t like the entire floor plan and want to make some changes to that. Maybe if they got pictures of elevations of houses, designed things they’re looking for, whether it is interior or exterior, those things really can help out speed up the design process a lot.

At Peak One Builders we often get approached by people who are looking to build a second home in Arizona and it’s very normal to work with people through that process whether they’re here in Arizona or at their home in another state or another location. We do a very good job and excel at really getting that design phase down and meeting with you, not as regularly as you would if you lived here, but we also are very successful at building that home for you while you are a distance away. And that’s really kind of what makes us special is that we’re used to dealing with people that live out of state.

If a custom home is something that you’re looking for, we’d love for you to give us a call and get a free consultation, do a site evaluation, help you with that lot process, whatever it is that leads up to building that custom home, we’d love for you to call us at 480 481 5150 or visit our website at www.peakonebuilders.com

Outdoor Living Construction in Scottsdale & Phoenix Arizona

Outdoor Living Construction in Scottsdale Arizona by http://peakonebuilders.com/outdoor-living-construction/ Peak One Builders – Veteran-Owned General Contracting Company Serving Scottsdale & Phoenix. Call (480) 481-5150 today for a free consultation.

Hi, my name is Mike Christensen with Peak One Builders and today we’re going to talk about outdoor living. In Arizona a lot of our clients are looking to transform their backyard into a paradise or a backyard oasis. We really try to incorporate what the house looks like inside and out and try to create that same feeling throughout the backyard.  Whether it’s working with a horse property, and trying to tie in different roof lines, or different types of features that really make it feel like the property, including the house the backyard- or whatever it is, we try to incorporate it so it all just flows together and it’s just one continuous feel for you as you walk through your house to the outside- we want to make it enjoyable outside as much as it is inside. And, we also work with smaller properties such as condominiums, where you have a very small backyard and we’re able to incorporate those barbecue grills and fountains and fire pits to really create the same feel, just on a smaller scale.

Our team will come out to your house and do an analysis of your backyard, and work with the designer or not working (sic) with the designer; the process takes usually about 3 to 4 weeks to come up with the total plan. From that point, you know, we’ve got to get a permit and then start construction. Construction on a typical backyard, including a pool, is usually about 8 weeks, depending on how elaborate the process is and what exactly you’re looking to do.

A lot of people are looking for outdoor barbecues with refrigerators, maybe some (sic) maybe a smoker, fire pits, fireplaces are a big one- landscaping, obviously tying it together. Looking for a very simple square or rectangular pool; more of a minimalistic design where they’re using a zero scape type landscaping meaning the plants don’t require a lot of water, very minimal plants and trees. And then the other design is a lot of what you see behind me here is more of a kidney bean shape which is probably the most common type of design that people end up going with, you know with the small waterfall, large waterfall and more of, you know, the typical plantings that you see around here, combining some of the natural desert plants along with some of the better flowering trees and plants that we have around here.

A successful overall backyard really comes into play when you’re incorporating different types of materials such as pavers, travertine, different types of plants and creating those different levels really is what separates a basic simple pool with a flat backyard into something more of like what you see behind me here. And that’s really where our landscape architect or designers are really going to come into play and help come up with a really good plan so that we can build it properly and it’s going to look great when it’s done.

This typical backyard ended with the pavers transitioning right at where the roofline ended and dropped off about 5 or 6 feet down. We came in and imported dirt, created different elevations around the whole entire backyard which really adds to the beauty of the overall project creating different elevations and different levels- really creating different zones that people like to go in and sit. We create fire pits and fountains and fireplaces that really kind of designate separate areas where people can go off and enjoy the space. This is what really creates a great space and really more of an enjoyable overall experience for the customer.

Guest House Construction In Scottsdale & Phoenix AZ

Guest House Construction in Scottsdale & Phoenix AZ by http://peakonebuilders.com/guest-house-construction/  Peak One Builders – Veteran-Owned General Contracting Company Serving Scottsdale & Phoenix. Call (480) 481-5150 today for a free consultation.

My name is Mike Christensen and I’m the owner of Peak One Builders and we’re here today to talk about guest house construction, casita construction, and building additions on to your existing home. Here in Arizona its very popular nowadays that people that have moved here from the Midwest or out east or from Canada, wherever it is that their coming from, to have parents or other family members that are wanting to come to Arizona to stay for the winter or even to live permanently. Guest house construction and casita construction offers, you know,  different types of living whether it be attached to your existing home, or detached, offering different levels of flexibility and private space that we can create for you. Guest house construction, casita construction, it’s very important that you really try to understand really what the overall process is and whether or not you want to choose a general contractor to manage the overall project. We would take your project from start to finish, we are a one stop shop, we would handle all of your design and engineering phases of the design phase in house, and that really makes it convenient for you to just come to one place and deal with one person throughout the entire construction process, and that’s where we feel like we bring a lot of value to you.

Typical time frames when you’re talking about guest houses and casita construction you’ve got to go through a conceptual and design phase, visit with the city that you’re dealing with understand those setbacks and those design parameters that you’re dealing with and come up with a plan from there. In trying to incorporate that design of that casita or guest house to match the design and the layout and really the feel of the existing house so that when it gets built, it looks like it was always built with the original house and not look like it was added on. That typical process is usually about 3 to 4 weeks to come up with a good floor plan, again, understanding those parameters and really trying to figure out what the needs for that casita are. Then the construction phase is usually about 60 to 75 days, depending on how elaborate it is and things of that nature, how elaborate your finishes are- but that’s about the overall process.

One of the benefits to working with Peak One Builders is that we’re going to work with you in the beginning and we’re going to understand your needs versus your wants, and we’re going to work with you through that conceptual phase. We’ll come out to your house and do a consultation at no charge; we do an initial estimate at no charge to try and figure out and gage what your budget is. If those things all fall into line, if your budget seems to be what we’re providing in our estimate, the next step is to come into our office  and start the design phase, and that’s really where we play a big benefit into your overall process, we’re going to have you come into our office, we’re going to go through the design service right there, any engineering that needs to be done for your construction we also do that right there, really trying to make it a one stop shop for you and your busy life, instead of having you go to multiple places, and then of course once we get the plans done we take care of all the permitting process and start construction shortly thereafter.

If the things that we’ve been talking about today seem to fit your needs for your casita or guest house construction, please give us a call at 480 481 5150 or visit our website at www.peakonebuilders.com

Water Damage Restoration Scottsdale & Phoenix AZ | Certified Contractor

Scottsdale Water Damage Restoration Contractor by http://peakonebuilders.com/water-damage-mitigation-and-restoration/ Peak One Builders – Veteran-Owned General Contracting Company Serving Scottsdale & Phoenix. Call (480) 481-5150 today for a free consultation.

My name is Mike Christensen I’m the owner of Peak One Builders & Restoration and I’m here today to talk to you about water restoration in the Phoenix and Scottsdale area. As a restoration contractor we understand that you’ve had a water loss and there’s really not much time to react. You’ve got to take care of your home immediately and your insurance policy will state that you are required to mitigate the loss at the lowest level possible, meaning that you’re not going to let the water stand in your house for days at a time and create a situation where you could potentially have mold growth.

Water itself is very destructive in nature, can create damage very quickly which is why again that you have to react appropriately. Through guidance through your insurance company, and what we tell you as the experts to help you through the process.

It’s important to understand that there are things that have to happen to get the water removed from your room or rooms and begin that dry down of the structure. Bringing in a lot of equipment that is going to seem invasive to your home, something that you are living in and all of a sudden you have to react to this problem that you have on hand.

We are here to help you through that process, we are very sensitive to the fact that this is a reaction and we are very informative throughout the entire process, including bringing you up to the point where the structure has been dried down which is usually where your insurance adjuster will come out to the site and then really evaluate the put back or the reconstruction of your home.

There are varying levels of water losses, whether it be a pipe break in a wall from a rare event in Phoenix where it gets cold enough for pipes to freeze in attics of older homes, whether it’s a reverse osmosis line that breaks, or a faucet that breaks or a toilet that overflows on a second floor; those are all items that cause destructive damage immediately. If you do not address those items and start the process right away, there is a very good chance that within 24 to 48 hours that you could have mold growth, and again your insurance policy states that you are responsible for mitigating that to the lowest level possible. It’s important to understand what your policy says, what your deductible is and what those overall costs, how they affect you. And your insurance company will be able to provide you with all that information if you’re not sure how your policy reads, and again, we can help you through that process and help you understand your policy and guide you through the entire process all the way to the end.

One of the benefits with going with a company like Peak One Builders and Restoration is that we are IICRC certified company which means we’ve had the training to properly dry down your structure to pre loss conditions and then the great benefit to us is that you’re not going to have to go hire a separate company to do the reconstruction. We’re there as a one stop shop to handle it from the day that your loss occurred to the day that the loss is finished. And then an added bonus is that we are a custom home builder and we’ve been doing this for a long time so we understand that you’re going to lose a lot of things during that loss and we can help you, almost as a remodel, to a very bad condition that you didn’t plan for but we can help turn it into a good situation for you.

The typical time frames that you’re dealing with from the first day that you realize that you’ve had a water loss; to the end of the dry down is usually about 3 to 4 days to get the structure dried back down to a pre loss condition. Once that ends we go into a reconstruction phase and depending on how big the damage is and if you have cabinets damaged, obviously that extends the time frame for the reconstruction. But, any of those time frames can be 3 to 4 weeks up to 6 to 8 weeks if you have to design and rebuild your entire kitchen.

If you’ve experienced an unfortunate water loss, we are the experts. We’re going to bring your house back to normal to a pre loss condition as quickly as possible. Please us a call immediately at 480 481 5150

Swimming Pool Construction Scottsdale & Phoenix AZ

Swimming Pool Construction Scottsdale & Phoenix AZ by http://peakonebuilders.com/swimming-pool-remodeling-scottsdale-phoenix-az/  Peak One Builders – Veteran-Owned General Contracting Company Serving Scottsdale & Phoenix. Call (480) 481-5150 today for a free consultation.

My name is Mike Christensen, I’m the owner of Peak One Builders and today we’re going to talk about swimming pool construction. The process that you go through with building a pool is really initially driven by the amount of perimeter footage of your pool, how big your water features are and how much space you want around your pool. That’s really when we’re going to come in and really listen to how you’re going to live in that backyard , what your lifestyle is and how to incorporate all the features around the pool. It’s not so much important to just think about the pool but you really got to think about the overall concept of your backyard and it’s extremely important to think about those pieces and how you’re going to live in that backyard, how you’re going to entertain in that backyard. And that’s where we come into play and that’s really where our passion is- to help you come up with that design.

We specialize in being a one stop shop where we’re going to build your pool, your walls, your ramadas, your fire pits, your water features, your spas, all in one shot for you. You’re not going to have to hire multiple entities to build your backyard oasis. A lot of the pool services that you see out there advertised on the internet , or through different types of adds start out with, you know, “We can build your pool for 16000 dollars”, and the thing that you need to be aware of is that is a very basic rectangular pool, but the truth of the matter is that people want the water features, they want to incorporate some boulders, they’d  like to incorporate some sort of waterfall, negative edge, or some sort of sheer descent. And really all those things are A La Carte added in addition to that initial entry level pool. Obviously, the simpler the pool, the cheaper it is for you to build.

In the Phoenix metropolitan area there’s hundreds of thousands of pools that were built 20 and 30 years ago. They have a typical plaster interior, they’ve got a very traditional concrete coping that runs around the perimeter of the pool with your typical pool decking on top of it. And that was great 20 or 30 years ago, but nowadays the finishes have dramatically increased in quality and different styles and that’s really where we’re going to come into play. We’re going to help you design the new inside of your pool, we’re going to offer different types of waterline tile and you’re going to be able to go to showrooms and pick the different types of tiles and copings that are available now, as well as the different interiors of your pool the different types of pebbles that’s out there, the size of the pebble, pebble radiance, pebble sheen. There’s a lot of buzz words like that, and we’re going to help you make good decisions on remodeling your overall pool.

A lot of the pool equipment that is existing in your home may need to be upgraded, and the good thing to that is the local power companies the APS or SRP offer rebates based on the type of equipment that you’re going to be incorporating, the variable speed motors, all that will save money for you.

Typical time frame for a pool, you’ve got to go through a little bit of a design phase, and there’s some going back and forth between you and our designers and that typically takes about 2 to 3 weeks to come up with an overall solid plan for you, and then we take that into the construction document phase which really is what’s required to get you a pool permit. And, then again, we’re a one stop shop, so we’re not just designing your pool; we’re designing the backyard, the retaining walls if you’ve got those, site walls, the safety features that really need to be incorporated into the permit and the safety of your backyard. We will take that thing from start to finish, all the way through the entire process. That typically takes around 2 months to get your pool all the way through completion.

If you’re looking to take your backyard to the next level, come up with a creative design, we’d love to give you a free consultation. You can contact us at 480 481 5150, or you can visit our website at www.peakonebuilders.com

Commercial Tenant Improvement in Scottsdale & Phoenix Arizona

Commercial Tenant Improvement Contractor in Scottsdale Arizona  by http://peakonebuilders.com/commercial-tenant-improvement/ Peak One Builders – Veteran-Owned General Contracting Company Serving North Scottsdale & North Phoenix. Call (480) 481-5150 today for a free consultation.

My name is Mike Christensen and I’m the owner of Peak One Builders and I’m here today to talk to you about commercial tenant improvements. Often times we get approached by people who are individual business owners or franchisees looking to build out a space that is potentially an existing space trying to convert it to fit their needs or starting with a vanilla shell.  Often time’s people will bring us in during their inspection period and have a meeting with their realtor in the space that they’re looking to occupy. I will then take a look at the space try and figure out what your business needs are and what improvements to upgrade the space to your business need, as well as meeting the local codes such as bathrooms that meet ADA requirements, fire sprinklers, fire suppression, all of those things that have to be in the space in addition to the things that you need to build your space out.

It’s our recommendation that prior to signing a lease you try to get into a design phase quickly and really start spacially planning out the space that you’re going to occupy. If you’re a franchisee figuring out those things that need to be in this space and have us do all that in a design phase prior to you signing the lease, with the idea being that we can go in, we can get the permit and as soon as you sign the lease and occupy the space we can begin construction immediately.

Typical time frames that we deal with for making minor improvements to the space usually run about 30 to 45 days and that usually includes some sort of a bathroom remodel to upgrade to current ADA compliance.

More advanced build outs, franchisees with a  very elaborate space sometimes tend to take 60 to 90 days often times bringing in the franchisor to do part of that build out as well, you know, consulting with us and building that from start to finish. Sometimes they need to come in during the middle of construction and have us finish the process to final the project out and get a certificate of completion  on your property.

Costs vary widely, obviously if you can select a place that is vanilla shell, has nothing in there, no flooring, just basic walls that are going to be your best way to go. Most of those spaces do have a bathroom that has already set up and often times you find those in newer buildings, that is the best situation to have you start out. Costs obviously vary if you’re occupying a space that has an existing business owner that left everything behind, we’re going to have to conduct all that demolition and really get you back to a vanilla shell to start out remodeling the space that you selected to meet your needs.

If the things we’ve been talking about today seem to fit your needs, please give us a call at 480 481 5150 or visit our website at www.peakonebuilders.com

Scottsdale Bathroom Remodeling Contractor | Custom Remodel Phoenix

Scottsdale Bathroom Remodeling Contractor  by http://peakonebuilders.com/bathroom-remodels/   Peak One Builders – Veteran-Owned General Contracting Company Serving Scottsdale & Phoenix. Call (480) 481-5150 today for a free consultation.

Hi my name is Mike Christensen I’m the owner of Peak One Builders and today I’m going to talk to you about bathroom remodeling. A lot of people that approach us in regards to doing a bathroom remodeling  are looking for changing out their shower, making it a little bit larger, adding things such as a hand held in addition to their main shower head, possibly adding body sprays, or even upgrading to things such as a steam unit. Nowadays also, people are getting away from the old standard bathtubs or jetted tubs which were popular for so long, and going to free standing bathtubs which are much more popular nowadays.

Most of our extensive bath remodels are consisting of changing out the cabinets, those features such as soft close drawers and doors, upgrading their countertops to more of a quartz man made type product such as silestone or Samsung radiant product which is much more uniform countertop versus your standard granite. And incorporating tile backsplashes, definitely increasing the lighting in their bathrooms that seems to be a very common complaint that the lighting is very poor. We’re doing such things as incorporating framed mirrors in lieu of the typical quarter inch plate glass mirror that goes from one side to the other, and we’re breaking that up with individual framed mirrors over the sinks with sconces in between and another framed mirror-really changes the overall look of the bathroom. And we’re doing a lot of things with the lighting such as hanging pendants over the vanity or smaller mini chandeliers over the bathtub which really just adds a great look to the overall bath remodel, a little more exclusive and a little bit higher end look which is very easily achieved on all bathrooms.

Plumbing fixtures play a very large roll on your bathroom remodel. Changing out your sinks to an under mount sink versus a self riming sink that sits on top of the countertop, changing out your standard faucet where the faucet and the handles are all incorporated into one, to separate handles which are spread out- just a little bit more of an elegant design. Going into the shower where again your adding a handheld in addition to your shower head and incorporating those body sprays which really offer more of a custom, more of a spa type treatment to your shower and again you can add steam units which really just give that overall spa experience in your home. And then continue on into the water closet where toilets nowadays have even become very advanced where heated seats, self closing soft close seats as well as hands free opening of the seats. Toilets that are mounted to the wall, where they’re not typically going on the floor anymore, that’s more of a contemporary modern design, but also very popular. So those are a lot of things, as far as plumbing, that you can incorporate into your bathroom.

On a typical remodel, you do have some sort of conceptual design phase in the beginning, how elaborate that gets depends on how much homework you’ve done and do you have pictures, are you bringing pictures to us and trying to help us with that design, do you want to bring an interior designer into it. Those all play in that beginning conceptual and design phase that could take 2 or 3 or 4 weeks depending on how long it takes to make you pick out all your selections. The typical construction phase of a, you know, normal bathroom remodel is about 30 days. We try to have all those selections made ahead of time, we try to get cabinets ordered ahead of time so we’re not starting the construction project until you have all those selections made and those cabinets are ready for us at the start of your project.

If you’re interested in having Peak One Builders upgrade your bathroom with the features and things that we’ve been talking about here today, please give us a call at 480 481 5150 or visit our website at www.peakonebuilders.com

Scottsdale Kitchen Remodeling Contractors | Phoenix Custom Remodels

Scottsdale Kitchen Remodeling Contractor by http://peakonebuilders.com/kitchen-remodels/ Peak One Builders & Restoration is a Veteran-Owned General Contracting Company Serving Scottsdale &  Phoenix, Arizona. Call (480) 481-5150 to Request A Free Estimate today.

Hi my name is Mike Christensen and today we’re going to talk about kitchen remodeling and how to transform your existing kitchen into the kitchen of your dreams. Today’s kitchens are a focal point for your family, it’s where you’re going to be spending time cooking your meals and really having eat in dining areas, high tech kitchens, high tech appliances, updated finishes and incorporating all those things into your kitchen design. When designing your kitchen one of the biggest features in your kitchen is new cabinets. Cabinets come in 2 basic lines, a modular, and a fully custom kitchen. The cost difference between these two cabinets is dramatic so if you can incorporate a modular cabinet that’s custom made in a factory, built to specific dimensions, and we can fit that into your kitchen, then that’s a very good price point for you. However, if you’re looking for more of a custom kitchen, getting exactly what you want in different heights widths depths, with all of the updated modern features that you can have, then a custom line is really more of what you’re looking for. Whether you’re doing a modern contemporary transitional or a more traditional type of cabinets, and that’s really where the design comes into play. Do you want doors that are fold over, meaning you don’t see any face frame at all, a frame less cabinet which is very similar, you’re not going to see a frame to the cabinet, you’re just going to see the doors. Or whether you’re going to have a traditional kitchen like the one behind us where you’ve got different elevations, different depths to cabinets, different heights to cabinets and really trying to incorporate a different type of design such as a Tuscan or a Spanish Colonial design.

A lot of the cabinet design incorporates the new technology such as soft close drawers and doors, which are a great feature. Not only that, a lot of the modern technology, the bells and whistles, that are being sold nowadays are like the Rev-a-Shelf products that offer the spice racks, the pull out drawers, the pull out pots and pan racks. There’s a multitude of different ideas that are out there and that’s really what takes you to the next level in cabinet design and that’s where your cost is going to increase and really the design is endless.

Let’s talk about appliance selection for your kitchen remodel. A lot of things that come into play is really how you are going to use that kitchen. Do you like to entertain, do you entertain a lot of people, is it going to be just for your family of four. All this factors into what type of appliances to select, are you looking for more of a commercial grade range that’s 48 inches wide with 6 burners on it, or are you okay with a traditional 4 burner gas range. All those are factors that play into how you’re going to cook in that kitchen, how’re you going to entertain, do you want 2 dishwashers because you entertain a lot and you need to constantly be washing dishes.

When it comes to countertop design, there’s a lot of different types of countertops out there. Whether it’s your typical granite countertops, or a lot of your man made stones such as your quartzes your radiance your silestone products that are man made and really a much more uniform product than your typical granites out there. And, there’s a multitude of edge features, how thick do you want the countertop- all of those things come into play when designing your kitchen.

In today’s design, going back to the paint grade type of cabinets which are very popular, the colors that are being used most often are your tans and grays and browns which you may think sound gloomy and dull, they are actually very popular and actually (make) beautiful cabinets. Incorporating also rustic features, such as barn wood into the backsplash, things of that nature really kind of help tie it together.

We’re here to help you come up with that design however simple or elaborate as you’re looking for to help achieve that kitchen of your dreams, so you can call us at 480 481 5150 or visit our website at http://www.peakonebuilders.com/

Water Damage Scottsdale: Help! My Pipes Broke In My Home

Water Damage Scottsdale

It’s an all too common problem; you wake up in the middle of the night because you hear water running only to discover that your pipes have burst. This is very common in Scottsdale and without question, it’s very frustrating when a major home component breaks and causes significant damage to your home. However, there are a few things that you can – and should do if this occurs that can reduce additional damage being done to you house and save you a considerable amount of stress fixing water damage in Scottsdale.

Step #1 – Cut the Water Supply to the House

There are a few items that every home owner should be 100% confident on how to use – the gas, electrical and water shut off devices. Whether it’s a valve or an electrical main power switch, knowing the specific location of these major supply shut off areas can save your home from major damage; but also potentially save a life. When you hear water running inside your home, it’s suggested that do everything you can to look for the leak and shut off water supply  as soon as possible – to avoid additional water leaking and causing more damage to the home.

Here are some quick emergency procedures you should follow once you discover a water leak
  • Locate and identify the source of the incoming water. If possible, try to shut off water supply or call a professional to handle it.

  • Turn off all electrical breakers that control the affected area to reduce electrical hazards .

  • Remove or elevate furniture & draperies off wet areas to prevent permanent stains or rust marks from occurring.

  • Empty out closet floors, including shoes and cardboard boxes, which could cause staining.

  • Remove photos & paintings to a safe dry area

  • Try to use a mop, squeegee, or shop-vac to help remove any standing water and contain the leak if at all possible

Step #2 – Call a Plumber Immediately

Even if you consider yourself to be a great do-it-yourselfer, working on the water system or plumbing lines is something that should be left to the professionals. A professional plumber will be able to diagnose the cause of your water leak and make appropriate repairs to your system to ensure additional damage doesn’t occur. A broken water pipe can be fixed easier the sooner it is found and diagnosed. If you hear water running and can see you have reduced water pressure – don’t delay; call the professionals immediately.

Step #3 – Contact a Home Water Damage Expert in Scottsdale

Once the water leak is fixed by a certified plumber, the process of diagnosing and repairing any water damage then begins to take shape. A professional water damage contractor will have the experience and equipment to properly diagnose common and often undiagnosed water damage issues. Some of the methods they will use to discover all potential issues include:
  • Completing a diagnosis and inspection of the root cause of your water leak. Even if a plumber has fixed the main issue, it’s always a good idea to have a professional Scottsdale water damage repair Company come in and double check the repairs.

  • Examination of the walls, floors, ceilings and all areas of the home that might have experienced water damage.

  • Inspection of the foundation for any water damage, checking for any signs of mold or other potential issues that can occur with water leaks  in Scottsdale.
Professional companies that offer water damage services in Scottsdale have literally seen it all and fixed problems quickly. A water leak is not something that should be taken lightly. If you experience any water leaks inside your home, take a proactive step to protect your home by contacting a water damage expert in Scottsdale.
